D O N A T I O N S
Direct donations are no longer available as I am taking full responsibility for all of arisuchan's future expenses (incl. domain, hosting, stickers, and other merchandise)…
…but referrals (found below) continue to be appreciated. ^_^R E F E R R A L SDigital Ocean
Curse of the lainchan admin.
Added bitcoin address.
Recent ETH donation was received.
Thank you, Alice!
>>1600>Two recent USD donations were received. Thank you so much for your help!
And another two just now! Thank you! ^_^
>I wish you're going make it, Seph.
It's still a long way ahead of me, but I'm feeling a bit better and am confident I will make it.
>I don't usually donate over the Internet and hope you really need this money.
I wish I didn't, but I honestly really do. I won't misuse it on anything I don't need. Right now that means getting as much of my rent in as fast as possible.
>Anyway thank you for everything you did to the cyberpunk community.
You're welcome. It brings me a lot of joy to do this.
Received another donation just now.
>thank you alice!
No, thank you! ^ ^;
I received a USD donation the other day. Thank you, Alice. It means a lot to me.
I received an ETH donation for the first time. Thanks, Alice. ^ ^;
Ashamed to need to ask for help this month, but what am I supposed to do? Just let it get suspended/terminated without at least notifying you guys and giving you a chance to give me a chance?
Full disclosure, only $33 of that bill is for arisuchan hosting, but I can't elect to pay only part of the $53 invoice and keep it online.
I'm sorry. Fuck my life. =[
If we can survive this month, I will see if I can manually migrate arisuchan to a cheaper, smaller VPS on the same host (unfortunately automatic resizing is only available for upgrades) to make the cost more manageable.
What we're on now is grossly excessive for such a small board, but the last time I needed to migrate to a smaller VPS their technical staff only helped do it for me because I was willing to pay for like six months in advance.
If we get donations sufficient to do so (6 x $15 = $90 more), I will ask. I would then have six more months to get my shit together. On that note, if anyone knows anyone who needs any graphic design, web design, or web development done, please get in touch with me (email
on telegram). It could really help me right now.
Thank you, Alice.
Thanks to everyone who donated! ^_^
We actually received almost enough to pay for six months up front on the smaller plan. I'll try to come up with the rest over the next month and then reach out to them about helping us downgrade to a more reasonable VPS. Thank you so much, Alice! ^ ^;
Oh wow, didn't even donate 30$ I was planning to, and we hit the goal. Just hold on a few days before I figure out how to buy crypto and set up the paypal account. GREAT NEWS
Didn't got around to donate this time either, but know that next time, there will be people like us that care about this site and will have their turn to contribute
Thanks for everything you've done, Seph. This community is one of the best I've encountered.
but really, there are some better server providers out there
if you really want to go all out foss host it on SDF
>>2026>Thanks for everything you've done, Seph. This community is one of the best I've encountered.
You're welcome. I really appreciate it! ^_^>>2028>but really, there are some better server providers out there
What's wrong with BuyVM? We aren't going to get even close to these specs on Digital Ocean or Linode or whatever:https://buyvm.net/kvm-dedicated-server-slices
We're also not going to get the DDoS protection:https://buyvm.net/ddos-protection/
>>1068> Thank you, Alice.
Was this really necessary? Nobody here owes you anything. Besides, how many times people threw money to you, and you promised to NEVER AGAIN beg for money? Two times? Three? More like five at this point already.
It's getting annoying to be honest, get a grip, apply yourself.
>>2032>Was this really necessary?
Yes, it was.
>Nobody here owes you anything.
I know that.
> Besides, how many times people threw money to you, and you promised to NEVER AGAIN beg for money?
I know. I'd rather not have to ever ask for help, especially for such little sums of money. I don't feel great about it, but I'd rather accept shame than close down the community over $50.
>It's getting annoying to be honest, get a grip, apply yourself.
I'm sure it is and I'm sorry. Trust me. I'm working on it. I will try to make it up to the community somehow as soon as I can.
I'd be fine with buying merchandise or seeing banner ads, granted they were related to Arisuchan's topics in some way.
A few months ago I'd have just spent the money without thinking twice. Right now money situation isn't quite as good. Sorry.
how much money do you require to keep afloat this month currently?
i also god 0¢ in donations last month.
>>2047>I'd be fine with buying merchandise or seeing banner ads, granted they were related to Arisuchan's topics in some way.
The Sticker Mule stickers are being sent out for free, the Redbubble stickers have 0% markup, and I am literally more interested in having a reverse
adblocker (that blocks you if you don't
have an adblocker installed) than putting ads on the site. Yes, that is an actual thing.
I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm not interesting in charging anyone to visit the site (in the form of banner ads) or charging anyone to promote the site (in the form of commissions/markup on stickers).
If someone is able and willing to donate financial resources, they can opt to do so directly. I feel that is appropriate.>>2048>A few months ago I'd have just spent the money without thinking twice. Right now money situation isn't quite as good. Sorry.
That's fine. I very much appreciate the thought though. ^_^>>2049>how much money do you require to keep afloat this month currently?
It is currently $30/mo for the VPS and $3/mo for the DDoS protection.
I reached out to the technical team and they said that they cannot perform automatic downgrades. I would instead have to manually provision another VPS and migrate everything over.
If I do, I will probably opt for the $15/mo a month option as it still has dedicated CPU usage and sufficient SSD storage. Alternatively, I could instead get a storage-oriented VPS with HDD drives because the CPU and memory really isn't the issue for image boards. Either way I may be able to do this in the next week or two. I'll let you guys know what happens.
just run it on a computer at home.
i can't imagine this site requires too many resources considering how slow it is.
or consider googl cloudplatform , on which you can get a server for like 3000¢/annum.
>>2053>just run it on a computer at home.
I'm using a laptop tethered to a 4G wireless connection. The VPS works perfectly fine.
damn that kindof sucks>the VPS works perfectly fine.
it's not fine if you have to shut it down for lack of ¢s is all i'm saying.
>I have been fortunate enough to acquire a decently paying job recently
What kind of job, especially a -decently paying- one, doesn't allow for $30/mo in disposable income?
it all depends on when you want to retire.
>>2059>What kind of job, especially a -decently paying- one, doesn't allow for $30/mo in disposable income?
I crossed it out for a reason.
>>2051> I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm not interesting in charging anyone to visit the site (in the form of banner ads) or charging anyone to promote the site (in the form of commissions/markup on stickers).
kind of autism
it's healthier and more mature way to handle this, especially selling at least some merch or something. better than straight up begging while giving nothing in return lmao>inb4 you get to browse arisuchan anon
Present Day, Present Time! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
an awful lot of folk apparently turned out to donate when it was solicited recently. I'm not sure if you were one of those people. I was.
I dont like banner adds, I feel like this chan possibly could do them in some sort of discrete way that I wouldnt find too intrusive, but I dont like them and I feel like a lot of us dont like them here.
Evidently this site has existed under multiple administrators, over several years, under this model. There have been a number of times were things were very tight, but we've continually made it. I think we are likely to continue to do so.
>i donated you didnt so dont talk
also i was talking less about BANNER ADS and more about merch and selling stickers or whatever, actually selling them for some kind of money. NOT BANNER ADS, MERCH and le epic stickers. as evident from my post. but you were too jaded by the fact that you donated while i probably didnt right? dumb whoreson
and I'm pointing out the fact that this is evidently working – the site is here, running, with funding to last several months – I dont see where there is a problem.
Added referral links and several new cryptocurrencies to >>1068
Seph could you post if you get any donations?
You need a funding progress bar; I'll jump in if people are lagging.
How much do you still need? I don't have much, but I'm willing to contribute some, if you don't have enough yet.
Seph I always pictured you where a girl but are you?
>>2443>Seph, I always pictured you as a girl, but are you one?
or>Seph, I always thought you were a girl, but are you one?
I think the domain is funded, I donated about 20euros and someone else also gave some money via bitcoin: https://bitref.com/12NDdxmjPfYDZMjfQFpZTwkPhbCra8jvMi
But if there is some exes money I hope they reprint the stickers for the site.
Sent an email to the cock.li email address asking if you could add an XMR address for donation.
You can https://xmr.to/nojs/
if you don't want to wait.
I wanted to yes probably but when you whois the domain you get :

>>2453>Are we safe now?
Yes, we are safe. In fact, we may even be able to print another batch of arisuchan stickers in the very near future. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated! ^_^
Would be honored if you'd try to print the design in >>2397
>>1068>Direct donations are no longer available as I am taking full responsibility for all of arisuchan's future expenses (incl. domain, hosting, stickers, and other merchandise)…
I am fortunate to have recently acquired a well paying, long-term contract so donations are no longer necessary to finance the site.>>2457>Would be honored if you'd try to print the design in >>2397
We have recently received donations in excess of the cost of the domain name registration so I have earmarked all of the surplus for printing/shipping another batch of stickers in the near future. So I would be more than happy to print your new design!
Thank you for making it, Alice. I'll keep you posted!
